Incorrect display of colors after installing proprietary Nvidia drivers

#1 Post by GREAT-DNG »

Hello.

I am trying to install Nvidia proprietary drivers on Debian 12 with MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X. There are no errors during installation, but there are problems with color and resolution display (Photos one, two, three and four). The behavior is the same when installing from repositories and when using drivers from the site.

What information should be added (I'm tired, I probably missed something important.), what is wrong and how to solve it?

Hello!

Which cable you use to connect to the monitor?

Can you use different cable, or other type, which your monitor supports.

I use HDMI without any adapters, it's definitely not a hardware problem. On nouveau, on Windows with a proprietary driver, in GRUB and BIOS everything is fine. It's purely a software issue.

HDMI can be tricky, here have been some threads about the issue, but at the moment I am too busy to search them

For me display port and min display port have always worked, HDMI is almost the opposite as Linux Display connector. I refuse to buy monitors or display adapters if they have not DP or mini DP connectors.

EDIT: missing word added, makes much more readable

And to proprietary NVIDIA is not part of Debian, so I can't comment to that, maybe someone else can.

Anyway, I can't test anything other than HDMI, it's the only port that matches on my monitor and video card.
