It has begun.

Follow us on https://micronews.debian.org for live updates. I may if time is willing do some updates here as well with some background behind the scenes stuff.

The forums have an IRC channel as well on OFTC, #debian-forums if some of you wish to chat as the process goes along.

FTP masters are setting up the supporting suites for a stable release (backports, updates etc) in preparation for the main stable suite

Thank you for keeping us up to date. Anxiously awaiting the release. Right now I'm on Arch, but I will use Debian again as my main system and will do a fresh install once the images of the stable bookworm come out.

The stable release managers have accepted the custody of bookworm by signing the release files. Bookworm's contents are now finalised and the image building process can begin!

The contents of bookworm are now being sent over to the Debian Images team for building and testing of all the .iso files you will be able to download when the release is complete #ReleasingDebianBookworm

Pay close attention to the Release Notes. They have a lot of helpful information that will make upgrades and new installations go seamless. https://www.debian.org/releases/bookwor ... ex.en.html

The first full size image, Debian 12.0 Live for amd64, has built and the other architectures are following. They will be publicly available after extensive testing #ReleasingDebianBookworm

Debian takes release codenames from Pixar Toy Story movie characters, Trixie will be the development codename for Debian 13.

During release all of the automated archive maintenance services are disabled, including for stable distributions. The archive will be administered manually by an FTP master during the release process, and automated services are usually enabled on the day after release. #ReleasingDebianBookworm
