Debian testing - Gnome - no black theme

After installing Debian testing I see that there's no black Adwaita theme (Tweaks doesn't show it).

The Gnome version is 42. Is it possible to get the black theme back or it's no longer compatible with latest Gnome?

Since GTK4, there's no dedicated dark theme anymore. Instead, everything is done through libadwaita. There should be a dark theme switch in the normal settings now (under Appearance), not Gnome Tweak.

However, since Debian Testing is a development branch, it might be that much of this is just not working, so YMMV. Gnome 42 comes with a mixture of apps that are already migrated to the libadwaita theming and those who are still on GTK3, so expect hick ups.

Interestingly enough, I don't have "Appearance" menu in normal settings..

What can I say... you're running a development branch of Debian.

It should look like this:

Do I just wait until this is fixed?

By running Testing you have agreed to test a development release. That includes finding and fixing problems incurred. It is expected that you submit bug reports and fixes. So, no, don't wait. Fix it yourself and submit your bug report with your fix.

Otherwise run Stable.

Yeah, this looks like it's still using the old gtk3 settings menu. Just wait a while or try Sid.

BTW, the dark theme setting can probably also be turned on with a dconf flag. Just google it.
