[Discussion] Cannot access forums from my home network

#1 Post by MagellanTX »

For some reason I can no longer reach forums.debian.net from my home network; I have to use a VPN. It's been several months since I've last used it, so I don't know exactly when this started.

From my network, I can resolve it, but cannot ping, and the web page itself won't load. From VPN, both ping and the website works fine, and my account is obviously still active.

Strangely, I can traceroute all the way there. Not sure if someone has blocked my IP, but I'm hoping I can find a person to contact that can look at this.

Thanks!!

What else can't you connect to from home network? Is /etc/resolv.conf appropriately populated, not a symlink to emptyness?

@MagellanTX
Per your email I have added your range to the white list, please let me know if this is successful.

@donald
Thank you for responding! I still cannot access the forums, and it does appear to be a block because I am getting TCP resets back from the forum IP (159.69.48.177). I sent you an additional email with the packet capture.

Thanks again!!

Hi
Hope this helps...

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to 159.69.48.177.

If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Web sites prove their identity via certificates.
Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for 159.69.48.177.
The certificate is only valid for the following names: forums.debian.net, plethora.debian.net
Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN
#####################
It will go thru
Kind Regards
I'm actually using https://forums.debian.net, not the IP. The reason I provided the IP is because I sent the admin a sniffer capture which shows the connection is being terminated at the IP belonging to the forums.
Thanks for the response!
