[Discussion] rkhunter development hiatus

#1 Post by Uptorn »

After six years of stalled development, it appears a new developer(s) will be picking up rkhunter.

I had wondered why rkhunter hadn't been receiving any db updates either via its built in curl commands.

Me thinks efforts behind chkrootkit and rkhunter could be merged into a single, more consistently maintained project...

Yes there was an attempt to do just that. But it did not work out. There has not been any update on the rkhunter mailing list or on the website.

Using rkhunter to detect the latest rootkits, say those rootkits created after 2019 is a fraught enterprise.
