Project Banana is an immutable, Arch-based build from KDE that I guess will replace KDE Neon.

Thought this would make for interesting discussion. What do y'all think?

Could be worth watching. I like to keep an eye on KDE development. I gave up on Neon because it broke too often. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is a better showcase for Plasma 6, although even it is not 100% reliable.
As they say on that linked page:

I won't be leaving Debian though, probably ever.Prior art
KDE neon, KDE's first version of a self-made OS. KDE neon fulfills the "distributed by KDE" requirement, but fails on the reliability angle due to the Ubuntu LTS base that ironically becomes unstable because it needs to be tinkered with to get Plasma to build on it, breaking the LTS promise.

Re: [Discussion] KDE Linux: An immutable arch-based distro from KDE
Me neither.
Some interesting concepts, though - immutable KDE might be worth exploring. I feel KDE devs could focus a little more on stability and with an immutable backend maybe some of most of the stability issues might be resolved.
They're only supporting open source Nvidia drivers but I'm guessing that's a given if the distribution is immutable?
Anyway, agree it's worth watching.

As they write themselves
I think these statements can earn the "joke of the year" nomination.Doesn't break, or at least easy to recover. Base OS is Arch-based. OS updates are some degree of rolling; snapshot based releases with relatively recent libraries

The one time that I tried to run a live CD with a KDE neon based distribution on it. My system just plain old refused to boot correctly no matter weather I booted said live Distribution in safe boot or compatibility mode.

Re: [Discussion] KDE Linux: An immutable Arch-based distro from KDE
If I ever needed to use a stable KDE experience that was curated, I would have gone with openSUSE. KDE Neon itself is incredibly finicky when I've tried it in the past, and I can't imagine an Arch-based derivative being that much of an improvement.
