Quick app launch and app search in GNOME Flashback

#1 Post by umayer »

I use Debian 12 with GNOME Flashback. I have been trying to customize the desktop environment, but there are two things I haven't been able to do yet:
  • Adding application to the top panel: Every time I want to launch my most-used apps, I navigate through the Application menu. How can I add application on the top panel to launch quickly?
  • Searching for applications like in standard GNOME: The Super key does not bring up a search bar. Is it possible to enable a search function?

1) You can add application launchers to the top panel by right-clicking the panel, selecting "Add to Panel," and choosing "Launcher."
2) GNOME Flashback does not include a search bar by default, but you can install Gnome Do or Albert (sudo apt install gnome-do sudo apt install albert)
Have a great day ;)

Right click on the panel works on MATE, not in GNOME Flashback!
