Re: Must be Superuser to use mount

I'm not familiar with autofs. As others have said, the flash drive should be detected as a block device, and from there mounting it is trivial. In the screenshot above, it appears that you are attempting to mount it to the /mnt directory, which can be tricky due to the file permissions in that directory. Have you tried mounting it to the /media directory?

Re: New to Debian 12, problems rebooting after updating driver

It's unlikely you bricked it. Are you able to log in to a teletype by hitting Ctrl+Alt+F1? There's a lot that can go wrong when updating the nvidia drivers. My suggestion would be to start with taking a look at the dynamic kernel module to make sure it was rebuilt successfully, and also the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to make sure there's no problems with that (assuming you're using X11 and not Wayland).

Re: Anyone made RTX 4060 running on Debian 12?

This might be a stupid question but it's something that's possible to overlook - did you make sure to install the kernel headers before installing the nvidia drivers?

Re: Can't get login screen after upgrading to Debian12

How come, then, I was able to upgrade from Debian 9 to 10 in the terminal with no problems?
I don't know but things change over time. I would suggest ruling out any problems with the display drivers before continuing to troubleshoot. Without knowing which drivers you're using and whether or not you're using a graphics card it's hard to pinpoint the issue.

Re: Can't get login screen after upgrading to Debian12

Nvidia is notorious for not working well with Debian. Are you using the open source nouveau drivers or did you install the proprietary drivers as described in the following link https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers ? It's common for the drivers to need some tinkering to get working again after the kernel has been updated, which is what happened when you upgraded. If your monitor works after plugging it into the integrated graphics instead of the Nvidia card, that's a good confirmation ...

Re: Can't get login screen after upgrading to Debian12

@tagal4 It sounds like it could well be a problem with the display drivers. I believe the drivers on the DVD would be different from the ones on the OS on your hard drive. Does your computer have AMD, Intel or Nvidia graphics? Is your monitor plugged in to a discrete graphics card or the integrated graphics?

iPod Malfunctioning After Loading Songs Through Clementine

Hello Everyone,

I still use an iPod Classic, Luddite that I am. I recently used Clementine to add some songs to it, and while it still functions normally via Clementine, the onboard UI states that the iPod is empty. And when opened through iTunes, there is a message stating that the iPod needs to be reset to factory settings in order to be used. Based on the research I've done, it seems that this is caused by the [mountpoint]/[iPod name]/iPod_Control/Device/SysInfo file not containing the ...

@sunrat Apologies; I thought the solution to my problem might provide some insight to the OP's as it was essentially the same issue, mutatis mutandis. I don't have a support issue any longer since I was able to resolve it.

Re: system hangs during boot after update

I had the exact same thing happen. It seems that sometime around the update to kernel version 6.7.12 and the update to version 535.161.08 of the Nvidia driver, the DKMS stopped working. After booting, the display manager would not come up but I could open a teletype. Running a sudo apt full-upgrade resolved the issue. Below are the error messages that occurred during boot, for reference.
