I am thinking of doing this.
During the installation process, is there anything you recommend during the installation process?

Re: Must be Superuser to use mount
I expected for Gnome to have this feature as default, or any Desktop environment for that matter.

Re: Must be Superuser to use mount
Gnome didn't have anything of this nature,
When I launched the Disk utility, the USB thumb drive did show on there.
Which way would you recommend, and can you advise on how to implement the recommendation in the easiest way (noob friendly) please

Must be Superuser to use mount
Hi Everyone
I have used autofs for the computer to recognise and mount USB thumb drives.
When I have clicked on the thumb drive icon in the file manager, the popup with the following appears;
"Unable to access location
mount: /mnt/usb-Sandisk:
must be superuser to use mount.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.
Can you advise on how this can be configured for all users to be able to mount USB's and can you recommend another way if you don't recommend ...

Re: [Hardware] USB Thumb drives not appearing on File managers
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your replies.
I have used the "disks" application, Without plugging anything in, it shows the 2 SSD's which are installed. When I plug in a USB thumb drive, it does appear beneath the 2 SSD's.
The system is recognising that a USB drive is plugged in.

Accessing Multi-function printer folder in Thunar/Dolphin
Hi Everyone,
I decided to finally use the Printer's networking functions instead of using the USB Thumb drive between the Printer and computer for Document scanning.
The Toshiba Network Multi-function Printer (MFP) has a folder labelled file_share, and Toshiba had advised that I need to need to enter 192.168.xxx.xx/file_share in order to access the folder.
Can I assume that I need to do this in Thunar, Dolphin, or another File management application? If so, can you advise on how I can ...

[Hardware] USB Thumb drives not appearing on File managers
Hi Everyone,
I have tested this issue on both Dolphin and Thunar, and I have found that when I plug an external Flash drive or external Hard drive, it does not appear under the "Devices" list.
Can you advise on how this issue can be resolved please.
Thank you in advance,
Michael

Enabling WiFi on fresh Install
Hi Everyone,
I just installed the latest Debian on the 2016 Mac Pro, which worked out well. The only issue I have is that the WiFi option is not available.
On the Laptop and customised desktop, there is a WiFi symbol, when you click on it, it shows all available WiFi connections. - Can you advise how I can enable this on the new installation please.
I am running KDE Plasma Wayland.
Thank you in advance,
Michael

Re: Installing a new desktop environment & display manager on an existing installation
I wanted as much RAM as allowed. I went 64GB.
I want to overspec as much as the wallet allows to ensure that I don't need to upgrade shortly after building the computer
Thank you again everyone for your support.

Pardon the silly questions;
KDE minimal is different to KDE plasma? and that is available in the installer?

Re: Installing a new desktop environment & display manager on an existing installation
Hi mrmazda.
What would you recommend to do? And could you recommend Cinnamon as a desktop environment?
Can you advise on how I can change from GDM to SDDM, and can you advise on how I can add Cinnamon or another recommended desktop environment please.
I am running a custom built computer with MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Motherboard and AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Processor. I am using the inbuilt graphics on the Motherboard.

Installing a new desktop environment & display manager on an existing installation
Hi Everyone,
I am running Debian 12 Bookworm on both the Laptop and Desktop, which is running GNOME, and I am toying on whether to move to KDE plasma.
In the past, I had bad experience doing this (with other distros), and I am wondering can I install KDE Plasma while maintaining stability and Keeping GNOME, and have all the same installed applications and all files showing available on KDE?
In addition, can I replace the existing GNOME Based Desktop manager to SDDM while maintaining ...
