Re: installing another desktop - remove kde
In terminal, try:
sudo apt install <new DE>
Reboot and make certain your display manager lets you get into the <new DE>. Run the <new DE> for as long as it takes for you to determine you want it more than KDE. Once you are ready to kill KDE entirely you can uninstall it via terminal (but there is no urgency):
sudo apt remove <old DE>
FWIW I have 6 Window Managers installed and in use at different times (2 on Wayland and 4 on x11) all available/ accessible/ invocable from LightDM (Slick ...

Re: Wayland Desktop Environment?
...Labwc is another great option!
I'd advise folks against installing labwc 0.8.1-1 from Experimental. IME it's been considerably less stable than Sid's 0.7.4-1 and I've temporarily gone back to openbox while waiting for a labwc upgrade to land in Unstable.
sway, labwc and wayfire are currently stuck waiting for a wlroots upgrade that I'm pretty sure will land in Unstable before Trixie's freeze begins.

Re: Wayland Desktop Environment?
I test wayland extensively (proof positive I'm just an old guy without any friends and not much to do). The big name DEs gnome, kde, cosmic work pretty well on Wayland Sid. As for Wayland compositors, the following work very well (with root access and conky inconsistencies) SwayWM, Labwc, cagebreak. Everything else I have tried gets quite sketchy on Debian (based on my tests).

This fork is full of bugs. I tested it on the Void Linux distribution in my time and my feedback is purely negative.
God forbid it should end up in the Debian repository. God forbid...

Re: Conky (under Wayland) segmentation fault
wizard10000 None of my scripts use lua. My scripts do run on TileOS (a debian derivative) but not on debian (sid) proper. Would you be willing to share one of your working scripts (plain Jane type) for me to test???

Conky (under Wayland) segmentation fault
I have discovered that conky running on wayland (sway) does not function. Based on my readings this appears to be because conky on Sid is not compiled with the out_to-wayland flag set.
Here's the error I am experiencing. Hopefully someone can help fix the issue.

It only works on computers for me... my car, tractor, television are all poor locations for Debian to operate...

You can try using caffeine, also, to keep a machine 'awake'. As a newbie to Linux (user since 1994), I have not 'yet' found it necessary to use a tool like ClamAV (a peculiar quirk of mine).
Anyway FWIW Here are the ClamAV docs.
