Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have brought a new system with AMD Ryzen zen3 5500GT and Asus prime b450 motherboard. I installed Linux Operating System five months back updating, and using it without any problem. I thought to compile kernel source code optimized for my hardware and succeeded but I have some doubts.
I want to compile kernel source code to remove unnecessary blotware in the kernel and to improve performance.
I have read a number of tutorials and tried or experimented to compile ...

Re: expecting zen kernel which is optimised for ryzen CPU and APUs from Debian.
Yes I have posted the same thread in two forums because I am using both of them daily one after other.
I love Linux and Unix Operating Systems, X Windows System and its components.
I have lot of disk space and so I have installed various Linux Operating Systems and exploring them.
Many people don't like installing various operating systems and so I have not mentioned at the beginning.

Thanks for your suggestions.
Even other people suggested that there's no performance gain in using zen kernel compared to generic kernel.

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have brought a new system with AMD Ryzen zen3 5500GT APU and Asus prime b450 motherboard. I have installed Debian Linux and it is working fine but I want zen kernel which is optimised for my APU.
Actually there are two or more linux kernels available at any time they are for example kernel 6.12.1, zen kernel 6.12.1, kernel liquirorix etc.,.

If I do not use opencl like rocm or clover along with ffmpeg is there any degradation in the quality of output video file.
I installed amdgpu-install package which is from AMD git repository and its meant for Ubuntu.
From the above package or script I have installed rocm and AMF etc.,.
Have I committed any mistake.

Ok why there's no package called rocm which is opencl from AMD. Why there's no package called AMF headers.
I tested other Linux distributions like Fedora and Arch Linux and they provide packages like rocm, AMF headers etc.,

Re: AMD Ryzen 5500GT APU video processing libraries and Linux ffmpeg video encoding.
Are there any equivalents to mfx vpl from AMD.
Other Linux distributions have packages related to AMF but debian doesn't have. I searched Fedora packages for the word AMF and found.
What is the meaning of uvd, vce from AMD and is there any way to use them in ffmpeg.

Re: [Software] writing data to NTFS partition in Unix and Linux to share with others can be destructive and risky.
One of the experienced person suggested as follows.
I ran into similar problems when I tried to use rsync to backup my Linux system to an NTFS drive. It doesn't work.
The underlying problem you are facing is the fundamental incompatibility between NTFS (and Windows file systems in general) and Linux.
The NTFS file system has restrictions on what is a valid file name. Characters like ':' (colon) are not acceptable, for example.

Yes I know BSD is not Linux but I have tried to share files between Linux and freebsd through NTFS and failed.
So I used the word freebsd in some places.

Re: Blank screen after installing Debian 11.4 on i3 10th gen PC
No I have not tried.
Here the problem is not with secure boot but it's with Intel uhd graphics 630 as its not configured properly.
In other distros like Fedora and open suse tumbleweed we can get daily updates.
Is it possible to get latest updates in Debian for example I want latest kernel and latest gcc and latest drivers etc.,
